Troubleshooting

Common issues and their solutions.

License Issues

”License key not found”

Cause: The license key is invalid or has a typo.

Solution:

  1. Verify the key format: SS-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX
  2. Check for common typos: 0 vs O, 1 vs I
  3. Copy-paste directly from your purchase email
  4. Contact support if the issue persists

”Activation limit reached”

Cause: Your license has reached its maximum number of active devices.

Solution:

  1. Deactivate unused devices via the desktop app or API
  2. Upgrade to Pro for more activation slots
  3. Contact support if you believe this is an error

”License expired”

Cause: CadNic uses perpetual licenses — this should not occur.

Solution:

  1. Check your system clock (incorrect time can cause validation failures)
  2. Ensure internet connectivity for re-validation
  3. Contact support with your license key

Connectivity Issues

”Cannot connect to server”

Cause: Network issues or firewall blocking.

Solution:

  1. Check your internet connection
  2. Verify firewall isn’t blocking CadNic
  3. Try accessing https://cadnic.com in your browser
  4. If behind a corporate proxy, configure proxy settings

”Update check failed”

Cause: Unable to reach the update server.

Solution:

  1. Check internet connectivity
  2. Manually download the latest version from the website
  3. Check the changelog for known issues

Performance Issues

Application is slow

Solution:

  1. Close unnecessary background applications
  2. Check disk space (minimum 500 MB required)
  3. Restart CadNic
  4. Reinstall if the issue persists

High CPU usage

Solution:

  1. Check sync activity (large file operations may spike CPU)
  2. Pause sync temporarily to confirm the cause
  3. Reduce sync frequency in settings
  4. Contact support if the issue persists without sync activity

Installation Issues

Windows: “SmartScreen blocked this app”

Solution:

  1. Click More info
  2. Click Run anyway
  3. CadNic is signed and safe — this is a false positive

macOS: “App is damaged and can’t be opened”

Solution:

  1. Right-click (or Control-click) the app
  2. Select Open from the context menu
  3. Click Open in the dialog
  4. This bypasses Gatekeeper for the first launch

Linux: AppImage won’t run

Solution:

chmod +x CadNic.AppImage ./CadNic.AppImage

If FUSE is missing:

# Ubuntu/Debian sudo apt install libfuse2 # Fedora sudo dnf install fuse
